Primary Sources: Salvaged, Found, and Antique Objects in Interior Design

Aurora Mills is a destination for anyone seeking salvaged and antique goods to add character to their homes and businesses. For over 20 years they’ve been salvaging materials from all over the country and the staff regularly works with designers from across the country to facilitate large and small scale design projects. For Design Week Portland, they have reached out to some of their favorite designers to come together for an event that is focused on two topics near and dear to the current scene – sustainability and reuse in interiors.

The design panel will share valuable insight gained from decades of experience in the field, touching upon aspects of design that pertain to both contemporary and historical settings, and focus on the concept of sustainability within the scope of residential and commercial spaces. Our special guests are: Gary Gibson (Gibson; Los Angeles, CA), Stewart Horner (former Global Design Director at Nike and founder of PennyBlack Interiors; Portland, OR), Max Humphrey (Max Humphrey Interior Design; Portland, OR), Shelly Prael (former Visual Director at Pendleton Woolen Mills and founder of lé Nest Interiors; Portland, OR).

The event will feature lively discussion as well as a Q&A with attendees. Guests will have the opportunity for a mix and mingle after the event with custom cocktails and small bites, all in the antique and salvage filled setting of Aurora Mills Portland location.

This event is also in cooperation with our friends at Restore Oregon, who share our love of the special history of design and architecture.
