Portland Design Events is the premier website for finding and sharing architecture and design-related events in Portland, Oregon. We are a master calendar, posting and actively sharing events for dozens of local organizations and individuals through our website, weekly email digests, and social media channels. Our mission is to make it easy for members of our community to find and participate in conversations about the impact of design in our everyday lives.

Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates feat. TBD
September 26, 2019
At Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, we are inspired by the power of landscape architecture to deliver beauty in its many forms: rational, lyrical, and exuberant. We believe that the most meaningful landscapes anticipate what they will mean to their many audiences and emerge from straightforward, elegant problem-solving techniques. Our work is unfussy and original, sustainable and enjoyable, democratic and direct. MVVA believes that landscape plays a critical role in shaping a positive experience of place—both found and designed—and that a strong sense of place helps enhance everyday experience, healthy communities, and quality of life, which are at the heart of a livable city.

LMS Architects feat. Studio Petretti
November 16, 2017
On a cold and rainy November evening, Portland Design Events launched its inaugural lecture series event, Designing for Change. The LMS Architects principals, winners of the 2017 AIA Firm of the Year Award, spoke at length of examples of their work illustrating how architecture can help lead the way toward a just, healthy, and regenerative future for all.
As we continue to be the sole group to regularly bring outside, top-tier lectures to Portland’s design community, we rely on a deep and wide-reaching network of volunteers, supporters, and sponsors to make the series happen.
Sponsorship of the Portland Design Events Lecture Series offers the opportunity to invest in our design community, allowing students, professionals, and members of the public the chance to gain inspiration and learn insights that they can bring back to their practice. The series also offers community-building through a social hour before the event, and allows for talented emerging designers to gain exposure as they open each lecture as a cornerstone of the series format.
